1. What's PC/SC reader?
PC/SC
is a specification for communication between Personal
Computers and Smart Cards. Microsoft has implemented these
specifications for use in Windows operating systems.
The
official website for PC/SC is at
http://www.pcscworkgroup.com
A
complete list of PC/SC Workgroup Compatible Card Readers is
available at
http://www.pcscworkgroup.com/compatibleproducts/cardreaders.php
2. How to
install a PC/SC reader driver?
For
Windows 95, Windows 98 and WinNT4 platforms, user have to
install Microsoft Smart Card Base Components first before
proceed to install any PC/SC Reader driver.
As for
WinNT4, we recommend developer to install SP5 when in use
with USB Reader. Since NT4.0 do not support USB, there is no
USB driver for our USB reader in this platform.
In
Windows 2000/XP/Vista, the Smart Card Base Components is
already integrated into the operating system. Hence, there
is no need for any additional installation and developers
just need to plug in PC/SC reader.
3. Why I am
unable to launch WinSIM Pro?
Probably your card reader is not well compatible with PC/SC
specification, the program try to list all available PC/SC
readers before displaying the GUI, but failed to get any
response.
you may
check/test reader's health with other tools. |
